ELECTRONIC HAIL PILOT

In an effort to make the Salmon Catch Reporting Program more efficient for fishers, Archipelago has been working with DFO to develop options for receiving activity reports and catch reports from the salmon fleet. For the 2012 fishing season we are continuing with a pilot program that allows fishers to send their activity reports and catch reports by email as an alternative to phoning the answering service to report.

Fishers who have registered their email address, logbook, and FIN number for the email reporting pilot have been sent web-forms by email for their gear type. These forms are also available through this site to make email hail options more accessible through smart phone devices.

Important Notes

When you click the "Send Email" button on a form, the data on the form will be copied into a new email message that is addressed to Archipelago Marine Research. You may have to click the Send button in your email program in order to complete the process. The Archipelago email system will forward the information to a DFO computer system that will automatically check it for accuracy and then send you a confirmation email. If you send your report between the hours of 05:00 and 21:30, you should receive a reply within 30 minutes. If you send a message after 21:30 you may not receive a reply until after 05:00 the following morning. You have not complied with your catch reporting licence conditions until you receive a confirmation number via email from the DFO. This number must then be recorded in the appropriate space in your logbook.

In order to use these forms, you must first meet the following conditions:
